In July of 2008 I crossed paths with a dog who was a stray on the Indian
Reservation near Casa Grande, AZ. She was extremely malnourished, looked
very
ill, and had no use of her front right leg. On 12-18-08 I drove to Casa
Grande
to pick her up. I was in agreement with my veterinarian that we would
amputate
her front right leg, let her recover and find her a home.
When I pulled up,
she
was curled up on a little rug that was wet and muddy and embedded into the
ground. She looked more emaciated than she did in July, you could see every
bone
in her body and her front right leg was half the size of her left. She was
covered in ticks, had 3 open sores on her front right paw, and an open
wound the
size of a quarter on each hip.
When I got her to my vet, she took one look
and
said she would never survive anesthesia to have her leg amputated. We
debated
euthanasia as we thought that would be the most humane action due to the
severity of her condition and the long, expensive journey to recovery it
would
be.
I asked if we could try treatment to see what happens and my vet
agreed. We
did blood work and x-rays and the results were devastating. She had valley
fever
at the highest level it could reach, tick fever, heartworm, and protein
loss
through her urine. X-rays showed 3 vertebrae in her spine that were
completely
eaten away from the valley fever, and the bones in her front right paw were
also
badly eaten away from the valley fever.
She would frequently experience
nose
bleeds and weighed in at only 27 pounds. Even after all of the heart
breaking
results, I was not about to give up hope. In March of 2009 I started giving
her
the Mangosteen and Minerals product with the approval of 5 vets.
By now
this sweet little fighter stole my
heart and scored herself a home with me. Her name is Princess and she is
every
single bit of that name and then some! One short year later her heartworm
is
gone, her bones are all significantly improved, her valley fever and tick
fever
are almost gone, she is no longer losing protein through her urine or
having
nose bleeds, she weighs 45 pounds and still has all four legs!
I truly
believe
in my heart that the Mangosteen and Minerals product is what saved
Princess's life, without it she would not be
where she is at today.”
